5 Makeup Tips for Eyeglass Wearers
Using Makeup to Complement Your Reading Glasses
Wearing glasses can drastically change how your entire face looks, which means that how you wear makeup with glasses should be different from how you wear makeup without glasses. Because we heart eyewear and makeup, we’ve compiled the top tips and tricks on how to wear makeup if you wear eyeglass frames.
1. Curl Your Eyelashes
Eyelashes are like awnings for the eyes, and when you flip the awning ups, you will let in more light, eliminating the shadows on and around your eyes. Curling your lashes immediately opens up your eyes, which in turn makes you look fabulous behind your reading glasses. It also prevents your eyelashes from hitting the eyeglass lenses. To curl your eyelashes properly, simply clamp the top lashes at the base, and hold your curler for about 10 seconds. Be sure to do this before applying mascara.
2. Compliment Your Eyeglass Frames
For a spectacular look, consider complimenting your frame’s color with your makeup. For instance, if your eyeglass frames have a warm undertone color, you can use warm toned eye shadow and lipstick. Alternatively, you can use neutral eye shadow that looks great with warm or cool tones. Neutral eye shadow or lipstick will make your eyes pop, and keep them from looking way too heavy behind the glasses.
3. Complement the Eyeliner Shape to Your Frames
Consider using a soft eyeliner at the top eyelash line for a good definition. Bronze, grey and brown are some of the best color choices for all eye shapes and colors. You also need to consider the frame's thickness. If you the frames are thick, you should balance it out with a thick eyeliner. If you have thin frames, you should use a skinnier eyeliner.
4. Apply Concealer
Apply concealer under the eyes, in a downward triangle, to prevent them from appearing sunken in. When wearing glasses, the area around your eyes becomes a lot more noticeable. Your glasses can actually amplify the dark circles under your eyes, mimic the lines and the puffy bags, and make them much more obvious. To conceal this, choose a correcting concealer that’s a shade lighter than your foundation to help brighten any darkness under the eyes. You need to take great care to properly conceal the area around the eyes, so that your eyes look fresh and bright without looking caked on.
5. Shape & Define Your Brows
Though the eyeglass frames may hide them, it is very important you tend to your eyebrows since they help frame your face. Simply sweep upwards and outwards using a brow brush. Then use a pencil that matches your eyebrow color to fill in any sparseness. It’s amazing how much of a difference a little bit of brow pencil can make.
